Banana bread, a bistro and some cheese

I’m bored.

I should be cleaning my house or reading my new book, but I don’t feel like it.

It’s a weird, blustery day outside.

I’d really like to put on my jammies and curl up in front of the boob tube with a slab of the banana nut bread I baked this morning.

But it’s only 4:00 p.m, daylight saving time, probably not going to be dark for a few hours.

Do I really want to turn on the t.v.?  Mom sort of raised us not to do that during the day.

What then?

I don’t feel creative.

I haven’t sewn anything in months.  Not even sure why.  Probably just no real time to do it.

And no goals for it.  Gotta have a goal for those kind of things.

Maybe I should be thinking about Halloween and making some friends for Sergio.  Friends to sell.

But the banana bread came out so well.

I need to paint the little boy’s room some time soon.

I told myself today that I will complete it before his birthday.  That’s two months.

I can do it!  He can help!  Or he can hinder.  😐  You know how it goes.

Banana bread.  Did I just hear my name?

The Fairy Princess is sitting a few feet away from me.  She wants her Friskies.

She’s only insistent when it’s late and I’ve forgotten, but she puts herself in my path a few minutes early to help me remember.

Her eyes are closing, but she doesn’t move because she knows she has to tell me it’s time.

Husband and the little boy don’t notice her when she sits like that.

It’s only me.  She sits there for me.  I’m the supplier of her banana bread.

Okay, I fed her.  Does she look fatter?

(Please ignore well loved scratching post and excess fur matted into curtains.)

Moving on (or back) to boredom.

Husband and I had some relief from it yesterday.

My mom watched the boy while we had a very pleasant grown-up lunch with two other couples.

No kids!  Woohoo!

We went to the Stone Brewing World Bistro in Escondido.

It’s a huge place with interesting food and a zillion different beers.  Even the iced tea tasted kind of hoppy.

If you go, be sure to order the mushroom pillow appetizers.  Yummy.

It was nice not to worry about the little boy and whether or not there were chicken stars or pancakes on the menu.

Wish we could do that more often.  Sigh.  Someday.

Maybe you can babysit.  🙂  No pressure.

We might still have banana nut bread left for you.

Don’t forget to watch 24 tomorrow!!  😀

It’s the last one.  😐

Cheese!

Happy Weekend!

Just Tuesday

Husband is out for a run.

Boy is on the computer next to me.

Kind of chilly today.

Heater is on, but doesn’t help.

Hands are COLD.

Stomach is rumbling, but don’t want to cook.

House is a mess.  Like usual.  Same mess, carried over from previous day week month year.  Yes, year.  No, wait…decade.  Past life?

Why do I have so many color coated paper clips?  I like the regular kind.  Where did I get these fancy brights?

Why does the van smell like feet?  And I don’t mean my feet.  Harummph.

My husband set up a small window on my desktop to randomly shuffle through our photos.  This one from 2003 just popped up.

How did I get such a cute little boy?  I can’t think of a darned thing I did to deserve such a sweet tiny person.  Does enduring a lifetime of bad hair days count?

Husband is back from the run.

Boy just finished drinking a chocolate milkshake and watching an episode of Wow Wow Wubbzy.  Now he is back at the computer, humming the Wubbzy theme song and playing the game online.  Wow Wow Wubbzy!  Wubbzy, Wubbzy, Wow, Wow!

My stomach is rumbling louder, but it’s already 8 p.m.  Gotta choose dinner wisely to avoid nightmares and backaches.

The worst nightmare I ever had in my life (something about two-foot mice with brooms for heads) happened after an evening of Burger King onion rings.  Oy.

Won’t be eating those tonight.

Okay, I’m out.  No thought worth sharing.

Happy Tuesday!

P.S.  Don’t forget to comment on the Pay It Forward Project post if you’d like to take part.  🙂

Make Things – Pay It Forward Art Project

Last year, one of my friends posted a note on Facebook that absolutely charmed me.

This is what the note said:

Make Things – Pay It Forward

The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me.

Naturally, I loved this idea and immediately reposted the note on my own page.  Three of my friends responded.

Here is what I made for them:

For lovely Leighann, I made this weird predecessor to Sergio.  Leighann has an interesting collection of pumpkin people, so I thought this guy might fit in.

His head is papier mache.  His body is soft cloth stuffed with poly fiber fill and wire for posing.  His clothes, hat and shoes are handsewn from felt with button embellishments.

The little pillows below are for my friends in Washington and North Carolina.  Catherine Thursby of Red Shoes Home Goods was a major inspiration to me when I worked on these.  Thank you, Catherine!

I was sitting at my sewing table a few nights ago contemplating what to make for these ladies when I caught sight of the torn up jeans I had thrown across the chair the night before.

I used the wide pant legs for the pillows (no cracks about the abundance of fabric, please) and the back pockets became the little houses sewn on the front.  Both pillows are stuffed with poly fiber fill and include a tiny button doorknob.  The larger pillow also has a chimney made from a section of the leg hem.

These were really fun to make and took me about an hour for each one.

I still have to mail the pillows, but I completed the projects and have already started thinking about things to make (and people to make them for) in the coming months.

Check back in the next few days to find out about my
Make Something – Pay It Forward Art Project for 2010.

I might even make something for YOU!  🙂

Happy Holidays!!
