Nuts and Bolts and Cheese

We got him a bunch of nuts and bolts for his birthday.  Sounds strange, unless you know that his favorite destination is a home improvement store.

Last night as he was falling asleep, we talked about going on another Sunday hike.  When he said “noooo hike,” I ran through a list of other possibilities for today – the zoo, the beach, the popper fountains, our neighborhood park, a walk on Coronado.

With every suggestion came another quiet “nooo.”

Until I said Lowe’s.  🙂  So, yeah, guess where we are headed for our Sunday family time?

Happy Weekend!

Oh, and in case you’re wondering how the boy plays with the nuts and bolts…

he makes math with them, just like he does with all of his toys.

Good Job Doing Maff

A typical afternoon for Mommy and the boy – at the table with math homework.

A few months ago, he was reluctant to do subtraction problems when borrowing was involved.

I tried to engage him by talking to the numbers and making a game of it.

Now he does this himself and he uses a funny voice.

“Mr. Seven, can I have a one?”

It cracks me up, pretty much everyday.  😀

Please ignore the messy house and piles of laundry in the background.  😳

I can only do so much, you know?

Note that he doesn’t yet have a standard tripod pencil grasp.  This is an ongoing goal at school and at home.  If your child struggles with this, you can go here or here for some suggestions.

Happy Monday!
