Late, But Short

Short…

unless you want to jump on those links two sentences down.  😀

My brain is all over the place today.

When I grow up, I want to marry be Jon Stewart, or at the very least, I want to see him in person and think and write about it as well as Kristen Howerton does.  What a well rounded, witty woman.

Go.

Read.

Enjoy.

Then come back.  😀

The little boy made it to school without incident today.  Yea!  He came home, did homework without protest, and then let me read and sing to him from one of my all-time favorite children’s books,  Richard Scarry’s Best Mother Goose Ever.  Amazing.  The book and the boy.  I never get to read or sing to him anymore.  He usually won’t stand for it, so this was a joyous afternoon.  😀

If you ever see a decent copy of this book, you simply must buy it for yourself or for some little person in your life.  For me, it’s a compulsory purchase, so it’s probably a good thing that I rarely see it on the thrift store circuit.

Speaking of compulsory book purchases, there’s another that I HAVE TO BUY whenever I see it.  It’s The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf.  Ferdinand reminds me of my dad.  And his brother.  And myself.  And my brothers.  And my husband.   And our son.  Our sweet son.  If you saw The Blind Side, you may remember that Leigh Anne Tuohy refers to Ferdinand when describing her good-natured adopted son, “Big Mike” Oher.  Gentle giants, that’s sort of the theme.

Ferdinand is a really charming story and you need to read it.  If you haven’t already.  Which I suspect you have.  That’s why I like you so much.  🙂

Anyhoo, before I retrieved the boy from the school today, I had lunch with my mom.  It’s nice to have her back in town after two months away.  Welcome back, Mama!  I hope you can actually use that heavy jar of mincemeat I bought.  You’re the only person I know who actually makes fruitcake.  From scratch, no less!  Heehee.  Frooooooooooooooootcake.

Okay, nothing else…

except for the

Day Three 2010 Pumpkin Demise…

Still looking pretty good, but it was really HOT today, so I fear our fine fellows won’t last as long as they did last year.  Click on the photo and notice slight withering around the mouths.  Are you looking forward to the green fuzz part of the process as much as I am??  Oooo, science!

And our happy little big sad plum tree doesn’t want to let go of it’s leaves.  I get it.  Naked in public is scary.  😳

Okay now, that’s really all I’ve got.

See you tomorrow?

Happy Wednesday!

P.S. to Husband…

The t.v. is still on.  😀  Are you coming back?

♥♥

  1. You might have to fight Don when it comes to who is going to marry Jon Stewart! LOL LOL. My most FAVORITE childhood book is “Guess How Much I love you” God do I have that name right. Not from my childhood though, just Joes. He just asked me to read it to him the other night. I was SHOCKED and I loved it! That would be my choice for a childrens book that should be in everyones house.

  2. I am soooooo happy to be home. Loved having lunch with you. AND cannot wait to get started on the fruitcake. People who hate fruitcake, love my fruitcake because I soak it in brandy!!!!

    My Grandson is a doll!
